Manchester City star, Oleksandr Zinchenko has said that the world must come together and ensure that peace returns to his country, Ukraine.
Zinchenko said this during his post match interview after his country failed to qualify for the World Cup, losing the final qualifying game to Wales.
Wales defeated Ukraine 1-0 in Cardiff to secure their place at the World Cup in Qatar later this year.
It is the first time since 1958 that the Welsh national team, also known as the Red Dragons, have qualified for the tournament.
The war between Russia and Ukraine has continued and now passed its 100th day and led to the postponement of the game earlier in the year.
After the game, Zinchenko called for an end to the conflict, telling Sky Sports, “Everyone needs to fight on.
“We need to show the people that everyone needs to live in peace, and we need to stop the war all together because you never know what’s going to happen tomorrow.
“Today it’s Ukraine, but tomorrow Russian aggression can be at your country, so that’s why we need to be united and be together.”
