Transfer: Atletico Madrid to buy Ronaldo after offloading Griezmann

Atletico Madrid have put Antoine Griezmann on the transfer market.

According to the UK Times, this is part of an attempt to bring Cristiano Ronaldo back to LaLiga.

Griezmann is midway through a two-season loan deal from Barcelona that includes a “compulsory permanent transfer clause” of €40million.

Atletico need to cut down their wage bill in order to afford Ronaldo, who would be open to coming back to the city in which he enjoyed so much success across nine seasons at Real Madrid.

The 37-year-old is said to have been impressed by the manager Diego Simeone’s eagerness to work with him.

Ronaldo is yet to report for pre-season training with Manchester United this summer, citing “family reasons”.
