Real Madrid vs PSG: Pochettino gives verdict on Sergio Ramos

Paris Saint-Germain boss, Mauricio Pochettino, has given his verdict on defender, Sergio Ramos, ahead of their Champions League round of 16 second leg tie with Real Madrid next Wednesday in Spain.

Ramos did not feature in the first leg due to injury as PSG defeated Real Madrid 1-0 in Paris last month.

Speaking during his pre-match press conference on Friday ahead of PSG’s Ligue 1 clash with Nice this weekend, Pochettino insisted that it would be good for Ramos to come to Madrid even if he can’t play against his former club.

Pochettino said, “He is not currently part of the team, but it is clear that a player like Sergio [Ramos]can bring experience for this kind of Champions League game, while he was Real Madrid captain and played there for 17 years, so he can also give good advice to his teammates.

“It would be good for him to be there, whether or not he can play.

“It is the same with other players who might be injured or suspended.

“This will be a moment to all be together and to all contribute in whatever way possible. The finest details could be key in achieving a positive result.”

He added, “Rather than hurting us, it could benefit us to have this tough game first because we will prepare well for a big Champions League game.

“It would be a mistake to approach this Nice game thinking about Real Madrid. The best way to prepare for the Champions League match is to be at our best tomorrow.”
