Manchester City defender, Aymeric Laporte, has aimed a dig in the direction of Manchester United.
Laporte said Man United have won nothing in the last four years, while Man City have won eleven trophies in the same number of years.
The Spaniard also said that Manchester United have spent a lot of money to sign players, adding that they do not think it is normal for Pep Guardiola’s side to always win.
“They [Manchester United] have a lot of supporters, we are in the same city. It’s hard (for them) to understand. But there’s only one winner. They have spent a lot of money too,” Laporte told The Guardian.
“You notice that [people waiting for City to fail]. Maybe it is not that they [Man United] are tired of us but they don’t think it’s normal we always win.
“If I am not mistaken, we have won 11 trophies in four years; that can annoy people, like our neighbours — who have not won anything. We are humans, people have to understand that: just as we beat United, we lost to Palace.
“You can’t explain that with money. However much a player costs, that doesn’t mean he is going to be the best. It is not an exact science. We are leaders, a point ahead of Liverpool. We have the best defence and (yet) people throw defensive issues at us.”
