EPL: I remember what Guardiola did to Henry, am glad he didn’t coach me – Evra

Former Manchester United left-back, Patrice Evra, has said that he remembered what Manchester City manager, Pep Guardiola, did to Arsenal legend Thierry Henry at Barcelona, insisting that he was glad the Spaniard did not coach him during his playing career.

Evra insisted that Guardiola put Henry on the bench because the former France striker did not respect his directives and did a one-two with Lionel Messi during their time at Barcelona.

According to him, he respects Guardiola but said the former Bayern Munich coach gives his players way too many instructions, like playing on a PlayStation.

The 40-year-old said this while speaking on Amazon Prime Video.

“I have a lot of respect for Guardiola, but I am glad I never had him as a coach because he takes away your responsibilities, I was talking to Clarence [Seedorf], you have the impression that he’s playing on the Playstation,” he said.

“He tells you everything you need to do. I remember that [Thierry] Henry, for example, when he was at Barcelona, Guardiola told him to stay wide, but Henry came inside to do one-two with [Lionel] Messi, he scored and after the first half Guardiola put him on the bench, he took him out, just because he did not respect his directives.”
