EPL: He’s not helping us – Former Man United star not happy with Erik ten Hag

Ajax Chief Executive Officer, Edwin van der Sar, has said that their former manager, Erik ten Hag was not helping them by deciding to sign the Dutch champions’ two best players, Antony and Lisandro Martinez for Manchester United.

Antony and Martinez were not the only players that departed the Eredivisie champions over the summer, they lost other players, including the likes of Ryan Gravenberch, Sebastien Haller, Nicolas Tagliafico and Noussair Mazraoui.

Antony and Martinez joined Ten Hag at Manchester United for a combined fee of around £135million, while he also tried to sign Jurrien Timber too.

Van der Sar, a former Manchester United goalkeeper, is far from happy with the manner in which Ten Hag, someone with such a close affiliation with Ajax, plundered the club.

Van der Sar told BT Sport: “I think that’s somehow the fate that Ajax has,” when asked about Ten Hag signing Martinez and Antony.

“Of course with losing Erik we knew we were losing already a great manager. And, yeah, he’s not really helping us because he took two of our best players also.
