EPL: Chelsea’s new owners given strong warning as Abramovich walks away

Former Liverpool defender, Jamie Carragher has sent a strong warning to prospective new owners of Chelsea, that it will be “very difficult” to replicate the sustained success the club achieved under Roman Abramovich.

Abramovich has put the Blues up for sale following Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.

A number of billionaires and businessmen have made their interest public to acquire the Premier League side, but Carragher believes a simple transition that will see success immediately is unlikely.

Carragher told CBS Sport: “I think whoever comes in and takes over from Roman Abramovich, will find it very difficult to replicate the success that they’ve had.

“You may find someone who is willing to put in the same money, but it is the losses Chelsea have had that an owner is prepared to take.
