Champions League: First teams to qualify for quarter-finals confirmed

Bayern Munich and Liverpool have become the first teams to qualify for the quarter-finals of this season’s Champions League.

This follows Tuesday’s knockout matches.

The German champions thrashed Salzburg 7-1 at the Allianz Arena, thanks to a first-half hat-trick from Robert Lewandowski.

Thomas Muller (2) and Serge Gnabry also got on the scoresheet.

Bayern went through on a 8-2 aggregate.

In the other game of the day, Liverpool lost 1-0 at Anfield, with Lautaro Martinez grabbing the only goal.

However, Jurgen Klopp’s men progress with a 2-1 aggregate win.

On Wednesday, Manchester City welcome Sporting Lisbon to the Etihad with a 5-0 advantage from the first leg.
